Description:
The program will address Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (47 U.S.C. § 230), a controversial code section that largely immunized Big Tech from liability for publishing (or not) content deemed objectionable.
Topics will include a background on §230, a discussion of the much anticipated U.S. Supreme Court Decision in Gonzales v. Google, how content is regulated today (and how it may or may not change dependent upon the outcome of Gonzales, §230 in relation to ecommerce (Amazon, Airbnb, various social media platforms), and will conclude with an overview of content regulation in the EU and the Digital Services Act.
