The Power of Effective Communications In and Out of the Courtroom
Workshop Description
Law school teaches the substance of law but it does not instruct on the essential skill of communication. Yet, communication is relevant to everything a lawyer does. Whether in the courtroom, doing corporate work, or developing business, lawyers need to have sensitivity to what their clients, other lawyers, and judges are saying and meaning.
While you might have taken other communication training, nationally recognized expert Dr. Paul M. Lisnek leads this interactive workshop, bringing you the essentials of communication in the context that lawyers use every day. You will explore and connect communication skills to the relevance of your practice.
You can immediately apply the skills and techniques that successful lawyers use to your own daily communications. This means better interviews, negotiations, depositions, and public presentations that are even more effective.
Overall Goal/Benefit to Participant
As a result of this workshop you will be able to:
Realize how you-and others-process information and the power behind what you don't say to get the real meaning behind the message

Increase your awareness of and sensitivty to communication dynamics
Ask effective questions with a renewed understanding of the fundamental rules of depositions
Break the myths about effective negotiation and gain insight into your own style
Effectively present your message-whether it is a business presentation or speaking to a jury
