On August 1, 2013 Brazil’s President, Dilma Rousseff, signed a new, far reaching anti-bribery law into effect. After widespread protests over political corruption, Brazil’s Congress passed Law No. 12,846/2013 in record time, allowing for this law to take effect come early 2014. This law brings Brazil in line with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s requirements and now demands responsibility of corporations for their corruption and not just the individuals involved.
