Description: The role of biomechanics and its methods of analysis in criminal litigation will be presented. Particular emphasis will be placed on the analysis methodologies in cases pertaining to physical injury by way of an act of aggression, stabbing, abuse or vehicle accident. Case studies will be presented to further expound upon the biomechanical methods and role in litigated cases.

Rami Hashish (Los Angeles, CA)
Dr. Rami Hashish is a Principal at the National Biomechanics Institute and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California. Dr. Hashish holds dual doctorate degrees: a PhD in Biomechanics from the University of Southern California and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Hashish has also achieved a Diploma in Traffic Crash Reconstruction for the Forensic Engineer from Northwestern University. His primary research focus is in human injury biomechanics, and has authored 40+ peer-reviewed publications and presentations to date, and serves on the editorial review board for various high impact biomechanics and medical journals including the Journal of Pain Research and the Journal of Forensic & Legal Medicine. In addition, Dr. Hashish has professional affiliations with multiple national societies including the American Society of Biomechanics, the National Association of Traffic Accident Reconstructionist and Investigators and the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine, where he holds a committee leadership position. Prior to his current medicolegal work, Dr. Hashish served as Director of Rehabilitation Medicine at UrbanMed in Los Angeles and as a Medical Correspondent and Contributing Columnist to The Huffington Post, Runner’s World and Dignity Health.
