The Illinois Child Support Advisory Committee is considering a proposal that will change the way that child support is calculated in Illinois. The proposed income shares model, already adopted in more than 35 states, would completely replace the existing percentage-of-obligor guidelines. It is expected that legislation will be introduced in Illinois in early 2013 that will propose to effect this change.
