Description: One of the problems that attorneys often encounter in their profession is dealing with their clients and other parties who are culturally different from themselves.  The failure to recognize cultural differences can lead to prejudice and bias.  When faced with cultural issues, attorneys must attempt to resolve those issues before he or she can get to the real issues of the case.  Additionally, not only should the attorneys recognize those issues to prevent their own bias, but they should bring those differences to the attention of judges so that they can deal with them as well.

This seminar will focus on the recognition of cultural issues and identification of bias and the manner in which to prevent such bias.

This seminar will help the attorneys
  • recognize cultural differences
  • improve attorneys' communication with their clients
  • improve communication between litigants, mediators and judges
  • reduce bias or the appearance of bias in the judiciary
