Description: This webinar provides an overview of the assorted rules used by the United States to tax American stakeholders in foreign corporations.  The United States institutes a multitude of anti-deferral mechanisms targeting income earned by foreign corporations; foreign corporations are treated as separately taxable for American purposes.  In lieu of anti-deferral mechanisms, a United States shareholder could achieve short- and long-term American tax deferral on foreign-sourced income earned by a foreign corporation.

This program will focus on the anti-deferral provisions relevant for stakeholders of foreign corporations – with particular emphasis on how changes under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act have impacted the relevant variables for structuring outbound activities. Options for mitigation of the anti-deferral regimes will also be covered – both methods for reduction of their tax effect and alternate options for generating foreign-sourced income.
