Description: In the last 30-45 days, lawsuits challenging various aspects of the Affordable Care Act in federal district courts around the country have generated a significant number of court rulings that have the potential to shape the future of health care financing in this country. This program will discuss those decisions. The program will begin with a Texas federal judge's ruling that an obscure provision in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA), Pub. L. No. 115-97, 131 State 2054 (2017), is effectively a Trojan Horse that renders the entire ACA unconstitutional. In addition, the program will discuss cases addressing the validity of  Trump Administration regulations that: (1) dramatically decrease the number of women qualified to receive contraceptive benefits as part of their preventive care coverage; (2) eliminate cost sharing payments to insurers for insuring low income policyholders; and (3) authorize the sale of health insurance plans that do not comply with the ACA.
