Description: Can government officials, including the president, block you on social media? Can schools discipline students for protesting? Can a court order a news outlet to remove public information from an article it has published? Our expert speakers will provide a thought-provoking discussion of current events and their impact on the First Amendment Freedoms of Speech, the Press, and the Right to Assemble, and how pro bono lawyers can be of assistance.

Speakers: Vera Eidelman (ACLU)
Vera Eidelman is the William J. Brennan fellow with the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project. Vera is a graduate of Stanford University and Yale Law School. During law school, she worked in Yale’s Media Freedom and Information Access Clinic, interned with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and was a member of Yale’s San Francisco Affirmative Litigation Project. Before joining SPT, she served as a law clerk to the Hon. Beth Labson Freeman, U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of California.

Katie Fallow (Knight First Amendment Institute)
Katie Fallow, a senior attorney at the Knight First Amendment Institute, has over 15 years of experience litigating First Amendment and media cases. Brown, holding that violent video games are protected speech. She also defended The Huffington Post and other news outlets against defamation claims, and filed numerous merits and amicus briefs in the Supreme Court on free speech issues, including sexually explicit speech, offensive speech, fighting words, and libel. After leaving Jenner & Block, Fallow was deputy director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Federal Trade Commission.
