Description: This course discusses the various cyber-based risks attorneys face from standpoints of both legal malpractice risk management and ethical obligation compliance. Cyber-based claims continue to be an exponentially growing threat to lawyers and impact every area of practice.
This program examines the basics of legal malpractice claims together with related ethical considerations. Practical advice for anticipating, mitigating and surviving cyber crises will be explored. Cyber-based causes of action, common defenses and jurisdictional considerations will be discussed as well as risk management techniques and best practices. Both newly admitted and experienced attorneys, from solo practitioners to those in national firms, will benefit from the real world tools provided.
Presenter Bios
Jeffrey Cunningham focuses his practice on counseling and defending attorneys, accountants, and other industry professionals in a wide range of professional liability matters. With over 10 years of experience, Jeff draws on a broad background in civil litigation including commercial disputes, malpractice claims, directors and officers (D&O) liability, employment and labor law, catastrophic personal injury, premises liability, and product liability. He has extensive experience in both state and federal courts and in all phases of litigation, including conducting depositions, hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trials.
Prior to entering private practice, Jeff was a legal intern for the Queens District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted misdemeanors and violations in Queens Criminal Court under the supervision of assistant district attorneys for Fordham Law’s Prosecution Clinic. He also spent time as a legal intern with the U.S. Attorney’s Office South District of New York Criminal Division.
