Description: Why You Should Attend:

  • Attorneys negotiate every day, but few have received the training needed to differentiate themselves as master negotiators. Worse yet, some attorneys rely on the classic Hollywood vision of lawyers yelling across the table, a model that empirically leads to fewer deals AND less value for themselves and their clients. It is no surprise then that so many attorneys report feeling anxious about their negotiation skills. Break yourself of bad habits and prepare yourself for better negotiations by tuning in to this strategy session taught by negotiation expert Ben Sachs, a professor at the University of Virginia School of Law and president of The Landing Group, a provider of consulting and training services to law firms and other organizations.

What You Will Learn:

  • During our webcast, Ben Sachs will teach you a rich set of analytical principles for rethinking and reshaping your negotiations to maximize value for your clients. These principles seem simple at first, but the depth of preparation, discipline, and creativity expected quickly separates the good from the great. Once mastered, these techniques work in any context, such as negotiating settlements, transactional deals, client relationships, and even career opportunities.

  • Topics of discussion include:

  • Principles of modern negotiation strategy
  • How to deal with emotional or unreasonable-seeming parties
  • Frameworks for classifying and diffusing hardball tactics, including psychological impacts

Who Should Attend - This webcast will benefit attorneys at all levels looking to improve their negotiation skills.
