Description: This program will discuss the case law regarding the GDPR as interpreted under U.S. law. It will address the various approaches that U.S. courts have taken in response to objections to discovery based on the GDPR. Finally, it will address practical actions that both plaintiff and defense counsel may take in order to resolve these disputes effectively.
Amanda E. Finley, an attorney at Sequor Law, focuses her practice on asset recovery, financial fraud, federal and state court fraud-based litigation, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights litigation, and cross-border insolvency. She represents individuals, governments, fiduciaries, and other entities in domestic and international commercial disputes, cross-border insolvency proceedings under Chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, defending and prosecuting actions to collect evidence for use in foreign proceedings under 28 U.S.C. § 1782, and other judgment collection matters. Amanda also regularly works with attorneys in multiple jurisdictions to recover and return assets or value to the victims of fraud.
Prior to joining Sequor Law, Amanda served for four years as a law clerk to the Honorable Raymond B. Ray, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Florida. Prior to that, she served as an intern to the Honorable Paul M. Glenn, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Middle District of Florida.
She is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, the United States District Court for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.
Amanda is an active member of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar and serves as Co-Chair of the Pro Bono Committee and Non-Judicial Chair of the Subcommittee for Financial Literacy. She was accepted into the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar’s Fellowship for 2019-2021. She is also a member of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the Southern District of Florida.
