Description: The panelists will have a conversation discussing key best practices and tips and tricks from their experience practicing in the world of matrimonial law and international asset recovery. Each panelist brings a wealth of knowledge and experience related to all stages of matrimonial proceedings, including the steps that should be taken before legal proceedings begin, best practices during pending dissolution proceedings, and how to maximize post-judgment asset recovery in scenarios where a former spouse has either been untruthful in financial disclosures, or is otherwise suspected of hiding assets. The panel will also walk the audience through the “do’s and don’ts” associated with high net worth matrimonial proceedings, using past experiences to highlight common risks associated with marriages involving assets held around the world.

Christopher A. Noel, an attorney at Sequor Law, focuses his practice on international commercial litigation and appeals. He represents sovereign governments, individuals, and corporate and institutional victims of fraud, corruption and financial misconduct in the courts of the United States and abroad.

Before joining Sequor Law, Christopher was an associate at a full-service national law firm, where he worked on a litigation and appellate team specializing in “bet the company” lawsuits and issues of first impression. His case experience includes representing one of the nation’s largest homebuilders in protecting its $1.02 billion jury verdict on appeal and representing the world’s largest satellite radio broadcaster before the Florida Supreme Court. Before he began practicing law, Christopher worked in the field of international relations and foreign policy, focusing on the United States’ role in the Western Hemisphere.

Christopher is admitted to all Florida state courts. He is also admitted to the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Christopher is a member of the Third District Court of Appeal Historical Society and the Legal Services of Greater Miami Young Professionals Committee. He also serves as a member of the University of Miami Young Alumni Leadership Council, a select group of young alumni leaders.

Hannah Davie - Through the breadth of experience Hannah has gained as a leading insolvency practitioner, she now heads Grant Thornton UK LLP’s Contentious estates and family disputes team which specialises in assisting beneficiaries, trustees, and representatives in matrimonial, family, trust, and probate disputes. Disputes within families are increasingly common, whether it be following a divorce or the death of a family member. These disputes focus on the value of assets, competing claims, issues relating to executors and conflicts between beneficiaries. They are often emotionally charged and can also prove financially devastating, particularly where assets have been hidden or misappropriated.

Hannah, working in tandem with lawyers, designs strategies that ensure the most appropriate action is taken to achieve maximum recovery and the best possible outcome for the client. She can use the Insolvency Act, along with other civil legislation, such as the use of liquidations, bankruptcies and court appointed receiverships, as tools to assist with investigations, asset tracing and recovery processes. She is also supported by our Grant Thornton’s large forensic practice, corporate intelligence team, and valuation experts both in the UK and internationally.

Amber Kornreich is a Partner at Kornreich & Associates practicing exclusively Family Law. Amber primarily handles high-asset divorces and unique family matters. She was recognized by The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division as the Lynn Futch Most Productive Young Lawyer of the Year in 2018 and has been listed as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, and in the Best Lawyers in America. She is a passionate lawyer and leader in the Miami-Dade Bar and serves as President of The First Family Law American Inn of Court, an invitation-only association of Family Lawyers dedicated to civility and professionalism in the practice of law.  Amber is also active with local philanthropic causes and serves on the Boards of the Miami-Dade Florida Association for Women Lawyers, and the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.
