This session will address the new General Data Protection Regulation issued by the EU, which has a much broader attachment and scope than the current General Data Protection Directive. Key topics will include how to tell whether the regulation will apply to U.S.-based businesses, and practical tips and strategic considerations to address compliance and resource appropriately.
The session will NOT reiterate all content of GDPR but rather focus on a few key areas and how to make in-roads on compliance efforts. The session will also address impacts to commercial deal negotiation and drafting and why data transfer agreements are not adequate to fully address the new measure.
