In December 2013, the US Patent & Trademark Office officially implemented two international intellectual property treaties -- The Geneva Act of 1999 and The Patent Law Treaty of 2000. This webinar will answer questions patent administrators need to know about the new Patent Office rules relating to these treaties.
Objectives:
-
Determine the perils of the new relaxed standards for obtaining a patent application filing date
-
Examine the ease of reinstating a lapsed patent with the rules eliminating the “unavoidable” standard in favor of an “unintentional” standard for reviving patents
-
Identify an international “Hague” industrial design and how the filing procedures differ from U.S. design patent applications
-
Explain the significance of U.S. design patents terms changing from 14 years to 15 years
-
Discuss how publications of design applications work and how publication can be delayed
