Description: One of the core activities for business counselors is working with their clients on a wide array of contracts.  While each contract is different, experience shows that their are best practices that counsel can adopt and teach to clients that will tremendously improve the effectiveness of the contracting process.  This program from the Business Counselor Institute will cover the procedures for negotiating, forming and managing effective and enforceable contracts.  Specific topics will include the essential steps in the contracting process, including investigation of business and legal issues; definition of the role of counsel in the contracting process; identification and resolution of ethical issues; negotiating and drafting of contracts and related documents; closing of the transaction and organization and monitoring of follow-up issues; and establishing contract review and signature authority policies and procedures.  Various practice tools will be introduced and explained during the course of the program.
