Eagan, Minn., April 29, 2009 – West LegalEdcenter has announced an agreement with leading international ethics think-tank Ethisphere, along with partner company Corpedia, a leading provider of corporate and institutional ethics training, consulting and risk assessment solutions, that will provide continuing legal education (CLE) events to leading ethics and compliance professionals.

West LegalEdcenter will assist Ethisphere and Corpedia in accrediting their live and online events, hosted through Ethisphere.com and Corpedia.com, respectively. In addition, the event recordings will be made available for CLE credit on www.westlegaledcenter.com.

The first of these events is a series of recordings from the 2009 Dow Jones-Ethisphere Global Ethics Summit, which took place February 4-5, 2009, in New York.

“We are thrilled to be working with one of the leading thought centers for business compliance and corporate ethics,” says Lee Ann Enquist, vice president, West Professional Development. “Their Global Ethics Summit is highly respected among leaders in both the business and legal communities. This is an exciting opportunity to pair with an organization that brings unrivaled and thought-provoking content to their publications and conferences.”

“We’re delighted to be working with West LegalEdcenter,” says Tim Erblich, executive vice president of Ethisphere. “Together, we’ll bring ethics, compliance and legal executives the opportunity to receive critical and timely information via these events while being able to satisfy their requirements for CLE credits. Especially with travel and live conference participation limited or eliminated completely because of budget cuts, the accreditation of these online events comes at a critical time for those executives unable to attend live events but who benefit greatly from the information and credit they receive from these kinds of sessions.”

The first products to launch on www.WestLegalEdcenter.com were recorded from 16 sessions at the 2009 Global Ethics Summit. The topics range from compliance in Asia and Russia to avoiding, preparing for and dealing with corruption-related investigations. In addition, the sessions feature notable presenters such as:

  • Chad Deaton – chairman, president & CEO, Baker Hughes
  • Brackett Denniston – senior vice president & general counsel, General Electric
  • Colin Dyer – director & CEO, Jones Lang LaSalle
  • Ben Heineman – senior fellow, Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Law School, Harvard University
  • Walter Massey – director, McDonald’s and Delta
  • Paul McNulty – former deputy attorney general, United States Department of Justice & Partner, Baker & McKenzie
  • Mark Mendelsohn – deputy chief, Fraud Section, Criminal Division, U.S. Department of Justice
