Description:

It’s a worst-case scenario: they have your client on tape.  His phone was tapped, or a cooperator recorded their conversations.  It’s hard to imagine more devastating evidence -- but is the case really as air-tight as it seems?  A veteran former prosecutor provides strategies for finding and exploiting weaknesses in the recorded evidence.  From litigating admissibility, to building jury arguments through effective cross examination, this lecture offers a head start in your fight against seemingly insurmountable odds.

Nathaniel Burney is a white-collar defense attorney in New York.  Recent clients he has successfully defended include a manager of the Bear Stearns subprime hedge funds, and a multinational aviation fuel executive.  Before forming his own firm last year, Mr. Burney was a high-profile prosecutor in the Manhattan DA’s Rackets Bureau.  Before that, he served with the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for the City of New York.  He graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he edited the American Criminal Law Review.  His Primer on International Law is relied on by scholars around the world, and he writes regularly on criminal law at www.thecriminallawyer.org
