Proficiency in obtaining, using, and protecting trademarks is critical to the success of many businesses. This program is designed to help business owners and those who counsel them successfully navigate the process by which potential marks are cleared for use, marks are registered, the manner in which they should (and should not) be used, and how best to protect and enforce those rights. The faculty also discuss related topics, such as licensing and adversarial proceedings.

The program is highly interactive and teaches you how to advise your client on obtaining, using, and protecting trademarks. One panelist serves in the role of a client embarking on a new venture, while the other panelists serve as advisors to the client. Together, through lively discussion and the use of interesting program aids, the “client” and the expert panelists guide the audience step-by-step through the process of clearing, registering, using, and protecting the “client’s” mark.
