Description:
Employees are filing sexual orientation discrimination complaints at nearly the same rate as women and minorities in states where those protections exist. Twenty-one states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and over 190 local jurisdictions have laws that protect employees from discrimination based on orientation, identity, or both – and that number is growing. Without comprehensive federal legislation, federal courts and the EEOC have also increased workplace protections for LGBT employees in recent years. This CLE will cover current and prospective legislation and recent cases, as well as related issues like same-sex partner benefits, and how this developing area of law will affect your practice.
