IRC Section 501(r) was enacted in March 2010 and mandates certain new requirements that tax-exempt hospitals must meet in order to maintain their tax-exempt status. This presentation will provide a general overview of these requirements including key provisions such as Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNA), financial assistance policies, limitation on charges, and billing and collections policies. We will also address and encourage discussion on best practices and interaction of new federal rules and regulations with existing Massachusetts law.
