The Massachusetts Uniform Trust Code (MUTC) has been enacted. This is the first time in the long history of Massachusetts trust law that it has been codified. While the MUTC codifies much of the existing Massachusetts law of trusts, there are changes. Further, Article VII of the Massachusetts Uniform Probate Code, upon enactment of the MUTC, has been repealed and almost all of its provisions are incorporated in the MUTC. Massachusetts joins 21 states that have adopted the Uniform Trust Code. Knowledge of the MUTC will be critical for those who advise trustees, for professional trustees, and estate planners. This program provides an in-depth review of the MUTC and the panel are all members of the ad hoc committee that revised the Uniform Trust Code, which is the foundation of the MUTC.
