In addition to discussing the planning, preparation, training and allocation of resources to deal with the disaster, experts with personal experience will compare how different legal and political systems deal with losses from major disasters, such as the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Japan earthquake/nuclear crisis, catastrophic floods (Queensland, Australia), serious earthquakes (Chile, New Zealand and Haiti), major hurricanes (Katrina, Rita, Wilma) and others.
