Description: Comparative effectiveness research (CER) is meant to improve health outcomes and reduce health care spending by providing evidence-based data on the benefits and harms of various medical procedures and therapies. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) allocated $1.1 billion for CER, and both health care reform bills recently passed by Congress contained provisions meant to build upon the ARRA.
This webcast features experienced professionals from the healthcare and legal communities who will closely examine the concept of CER, recent legislative and administrative developments related to CER, and the possible legal issues it may raise. Topics of discussion will include:
• Status of implementation of the ARRA’s CER provisions. • Recent healthcare reform proposals addressing CER. • Privacy and data ownership issues raised in the context of CER. • Possible uses of CER and related legal implications.
Visit the Thomson Reuters Healthcare CER home page for more information.
