Description: Law firms and legal departments have substantially increased their staffing and expertise in the areas of public policy and advocacy. Given the current economic climate, change of administration, and a dynamic where courts are often less hospitable to the claims of the poor and disadvantaged, policy advocacy offers a critical tool to complement other pro bono efforts. This session will examine the obstacles that have limited the use of pro bono policy advocacy efforts in the past and will provide guidance and best practices on how these potentially transformative resources can be effectively tapped to support ongoing and new policy and advocacy initiatives.
