Description: There is a growing consensus that companies must account for the human rights impacts of their operations.  This rapidly-developing area has been driven by the UN’s 2011 adoption of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and is illustrated by recent developments in human rights litigation involving global companies and increased regulatory requirements for federal contractors in the United States.

Corporate social responsibility and other company initiatives that touch upon human rights and corporate citizenship are often undertaken without the benefit of meaningful legal review, and this session will arm in-house counsel with a basic understanding of the developments in this area and with the legal and other issues that companies are increasingly facing.
