Description: IP experts discuss current practices to reach a positive rate of return on investment and shorter time to money, developed in response recent changes in legislation, court decisions, administration, and “anti-patent” and “troll” public opinion. In this webinar, Professor Adam Mossoff, Professor of Law at George Mason University and Director of Academic Programs and Senior Scholar at the Center for the Protection of Intellectual Property at Mason Law, will address the role of the patent system in the United States as the foundation for a strong ecosystem of invention and innovation in the United States.  He will discuss the clear and also potentially unintended consequences for inventors and innovators found the proposed loser-pays patent provision included in the Goodlatte Innovation Act (H.R. 3309). Professor Mossoff will also focus on the impact of the recent Supreme Court decisions and the new contested proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) at the USPTO.  He will talk about the proposed Unified European Patent Court and international competition particularly from growth economies in China and India.  Caren Yusem, an expert for new IP business models, and Robert Greene Sterne, editor-in-chief of Patent Office Litigation, co-moderate.
