Description:

GSA Schedule contractors have a number of contractual requirements with which they much comply.  One such requirement is compliance with the Trade Agreements Act (“TAA”).  In recent years, there have been a number of GSA Schedule holders who have had to defend against False Claims Act cases, largely filed by whistleblowers, involving allegations of TAA non-compliance.  False Claims Act cases often result in significant legal defense costs and serious reputational harm.   Schedule contractors are best served by proactively taking steps to ensure that the products and services they include on their GSA Schedule contracts are compliant with the TAA.   This webinar will provide an overview of the GSA Schedule contract requirements related to the Trade Agreements Act (“TAA”), review recent enforcement actions by the government and whistleblowers against Schedule contractors for alleged violations of the TAA, and discuss how contractors can mitigate TAA non-compliance risks related to manufacturing processes and purchasing from suppliers.

The webinar will be presented by Catherine Kunz and Addie Cliffe, attorneys in Crowell & Moring’s Government Contracts practice in Washington, DC.  Ms. Kunz has extensive experience counseling GSA Schedule contractors on complying with Schedule contract requirements, responding to GSA audit findings, and defending against False Claims Act allegations involving GSA Schedule contract performance.  Ms. Cliffe specializes in international trade and U.S. government domestic preference requirements for government contractors, including the Trade Agreements Act and Buy  American Act, and regularly counsels clients on how to comply with the TAA.
