Description:

Misuse of government funds is a serious offense.  The Federal False Claims Act (FCA) is an enforcement tool used by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to prevent fraud on the government relating to federal programs.

The panel will discuss how to avoid running afoul of the FCA; whether before, during, or after an investigation, with specific focus on higher education and non-profit recipients of federal funding. Compliance officers and management personnel must familiarize themselves with current enforcement trends. Recipients of government awards or grants need to know what obligations and requirements exist relative to recordkeeping and use of federal funds.

Join us as we walk you through the risks and teach you how to protect yourself and your institution.  At the conclusion of the presentation, the panelists will field specific questions from attendees.

Topics:
1.  What are the requirements for government contractors under the FCA?
2.  Common pitfalls - how to avoid  an investigation
3.  What to do when the government initiates an examination or investigation
4.  An exploration of research fraud
5.  Current enforcement trends
6.  Ask the panelists Q&A session
