Frequently Asked Questions
General FAQ
Q: What is West LegalEdcenter?
A: West LegalEdcenter is an Internet service that offers the most current and comprehensive library of online CLE programs, including programs from the nation's most respected local, state, and national bar associations and distinguished CLE providers. West LegalEdcenter offers previously recorded programs that can be taken anytime, as well as live programs.

Some benefits of West LegalEdcenter include the ability to:

  • Take online CLE for credit in most U.S. states that have credit requirements (check your state CLE Requirements)
  • Link to documents on Westlaw that are cited in program materials and verify the status of case law and statutory documents using the KeyCite(R) citation research service (Note: Westlaw usage is billed under your Westlaw subscription)
  • View program materials online or download materials to enhance your CLE experience
  • Simplify CLE reporting by tracking credits online and enabling you to download and complete affidavits for your state licensing authorities
  • Take notes or link to Westlaw while viewing on-demand programs by allowing you to pause, rewind, or stop the program.
Q: How do I access programs I have purchased?
A: To access previously recorded programs or live webcasts that you have purchased, complete these steps:
  1. Click My Programs under My West LegalEdcenter on the left side of any page.
  2. Click Start Program. For live webcasts, the Start Program button will be available approximately 15 minutes before the webcast is scheduled to begin.
  3. If this program is for CLE credit, verify the state information that is displayed and click Next. West LegalEdcenter will report your program attendance if required by the state where you are seeking credit.
When the program is running, you can download program materials in PDF format and participate in a discussion forum (required by North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia only).

Live conferences require in-person attendance.

Q: I registered for a live program, but forgot to write down the date and time. Where can I find this information?
A: Click My Programs under My West LegalEdcenter on the left side of any page to view programs for which you are currently enrolled. Under the program title and description, the Start Date/Time is displayed. You will also receive an e-mail reminder one business day in advance of the live program. You may also click Add to Calendar to add a live program to your calendar.

Q: When I enroll in a program, how long do I have to view it?
A: Previously recorded programs may be viewed up to 180 days after the date of purchase. Live webcasts are available only at the scheduled time. An on-demand version of the live webcast will be made available to you for 180 days after the webcast.  Live conferences are in-person attendance events only.
