The Energy Bar Association (EBA) was established in 1946 as the Federal Power Bar Association and in 1977, the organization changed its name to Federal Energy Bar Association reflect the name change of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Around 2000, "Federal" was dropped from the name to reflected the diversity of practices the membership, not all of whom focus on federal law.

The Energy Bar Association is an international, non-profit association of attorneys, non-attorney professionals, and students active in all areas of energy law. EBA has seven regional chapters across the U.S.. and an increasing number of members in Canada and Mexico.

The EBA hosts numerous educational seminars annually, including two national conferences a year. The educational programming focuses on providing introductory to advanced level programs, many approved for continuing legal education credits (CLE). An important part of EBAs success has always been its member interaction and networking opportunities. EBA hosts various lunch, reception and dinner programs providing opportunities for our vast membership to meet and share their expertise.

Volunteer opportunities are plentiful with EBA – from serving on Association committees, to speaking engagements, and leadership roles with the Board of Directors.
