Eagan, Minn.  June xx, 2010 – West LegalEdcenter announced today that it will provide continuing legal education programming (CLE) with the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) on health law and more specifically, on healthcare reform legislation and its implications for various sectors of the healthcare community.

“The Obama administration’s healthcare reform law represents the industry’s most sweeping change in nearly half a century,” said Lee Ann Enquist, vice president of West Professional Development. “Our CLE programming with AHLA in this three-year agreement will feature experienced health lawyers exploring significant policy issues in the areas of payment and delivery systems, public programs and program integrity.”

Initial West LegalEdcenter programming includes sessions from the AHLA’s May 11-12 conference, “Healthcare Reform: The Law and Its Implications.” Online courses will cover implications of the new law on areas such as insurers and health plans; physicians; hospitals and health systems; sub-acute, home care, rehabilitation and nursing home providers; and the drug, device and biotech industries. More specifically, the product offerings include in-depth analysis on the following topics:

•“The Impact of Healthcare Reform Legislation on Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP,” with Dennis Barry, Charlie Luband and Holley Thames Lutz

•“Fraud and Abuse in Healthcare Reform: Will You Know It When They See It?” with John Brennan, Bob Homchick and Vicki Robinson

•“The Practical Impact of Payment System Reform on the Marketplace,” with Glen Reed, Tim Blanchard, Larry Foust, Katherine Hayes and Jamie Katz

•“Delivery System Reform: New Care Delivery, Quality, Efficiency, and Health Personnel Initiatives,” with Beth Schermer, Amy Hall, Doug Hastings and John Hensing

“AHLA is excited to join West LegalEdcenter in this effort because our important educational sessions on health law will now benefit not only attendees but the many health lawyers, compliance officers, risk managers, finance officers and other colleagues who cannot attend sessions in person,” said Peter Leibold, AHLA CEO. “This combination allows AHLA to reach new audiences with significant health law content.”

Attorneys seeking these AHLA healthcare CLE programs can log on to West LegalEdcenter. Programs are available at a reduced rate for AHLA members.
