 e? \n\nDate: 11/04/2009 3:00 PM EST\nDuration: 1 Hour \n\nDescription: \n
The ABA started the ball rolling. Currently, more than 20 states have ena
cted rules of professional conduct that require lawyers to affirmatively
disclose to clients (prospective clients) that they do NOT carry malpract
ice insurance (errors and omissions coverage). Is this in the public inte
rest? What impact will such a rule have on the approximately 20% of the B
ar that currently is bare of such insurance coverage? Why is it that such
a large number of lawyers are ?bare??  And what has the bar association
done to make this a non-issue by developing affordable insurance coverage
programs?  Who protects the lawyer if not the bar association? In our pr
ogram, we will address these questions and, particularly, the following:
 1.    The benefits of an Insurance Disclosure Program. 2.    Does an Insu
rance Disclosure Program provide protection to the public? 3.    Do Insur
ance Disclosure Programs guarantee that a successful former client suing
for malpractice will recover under the policy? 4.    Are Insurance Disclo
sure Programs generally of importance to the client? Arrive with your que
stions ? This is one more area where small firm lawyers are experiencing
discrimination from their Bar.  Know what is being required if your juris
diction requires disclosure and the issues to address if your jurisdictio
n is thinking about joining the minority states in going forward. \n\n\
